Session 1: Cubes Fundamentals

Synopsis: SQL Server installation kit is shipped with few additional products such as Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS) and Analysis Services (SSAS).
Many developers have heard about the concept of Datawarehouse, SSAS or OLAP Cubes but never really had a chance to dive into this topic or product.
Michelle will discuss the fundamental concepts of Datawarehouse, SSAS and OLAP Cubes and will demonstrate how to build a basic datawarehouse with Analysis Services. The presentation is not intended for advanced audience.
Session 2: SQL Server Performance
(7:20 PM to 8:30 PM)
Synopsis: To know how to improve performance in SQL Server you need to understand how SQL Server work. Michelle is the expert for this and she will show you why something can be slow and how to design for performance. Come with your questions. She is ready.
Michelle Gutzait is the SQL Server Team Lead for The Pythian Group, a worldwide company providing Remote Administration services for databases, operating systems, SANs and networks. Michelle has been involved in IT for 20 years as a developer, business analyst and database consultant. For the past 10 years, she has worked exclusively with SQL Server. Her skills include SQL infrastructure and database design, performance tuning, security, high availability, disaster recovery, very large databases, replication, T-SQL coding, DTS/SSIS packages, administrative and infrastructure tools development, reporting services and more.
